Who we are

traffic is lava is a loose collective of people in Vienna who like riding bikes but don't like riding in traffic. We plan routes that dodge the busy roads — through side streets, along rivers, over gravel, sometimes taking the long way around on purpose. That's the point.

How we ride

• No drop. Nobody gets left behind. Ever.
• No pressure. There is no average speed worth ruining a morning for.
• No testosterone. We're not racing. Overtaking is not a personality.
• New paths. If we already know the way, it's time to find another one.

When we ride

Twice a month: a Morning Ride on the first Monday — a forest hour before the week begins — and a bigger Sunday Ride mid-month, with routes chosen for scenery, not speed. Rides are announced on the rides page and in our Strava club.
